Recently, the 2nd International Symposium on the Transition from Digital Technologies to the Digital Society, jointly organized by Minjiang University (MJU) and European University Cyprus (EUC), and hosted by the International Digital Economy College (IDEC), was grandly held at the Conference Center of MJU. Centering on the theme of "Digital Technology Leading Social Transformation”, the symposium focused on the integration and innovation of cutting-edge technologies and digital governance, attracting over a hundred participants including experts, scholars, industry representatives, and young students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Cyprus, Malaysia, and other countries and regions. Attendees included Ren Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of MJU; Prof. Li Qi from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Deputy Director of the Teaching Steering Committee for Higher Education Majors in E-commerce of the Ministry of Education; Prof. Peng Lifang from Xiamen University, Deputy Director of the Teaching Steering Committee for Higher Education Majors in E-commerce of the Ministry of Education; Prof. He Shengyu, Counselor of the Sichuan Provincial Government and former President of Xichang University; Prof. Kostas Gouliamos, former Rector of EUC and Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts; Prof. Loizos Symeou, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs of EUC; Prof. Wang Junfeng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. Yang Jijiang from Tsinghua University; Prof. Huang Liulian, Vice President of the Fujian Women’s Association for Science and Technology; leaders from supporting organizations; and Huang Xiaoming, Party Secretary of IDEC, and Prof. Lin Zhongyan, Dean of IDEC.

The symposium featured a main venue and four thematic sub-forums, receiving over 70 paper submissions covering various hot topics such as artificial intelligence, smart healthcare, digital industry, digital education, and rural revitalization. It not only provided a platform for experts and scholars worldwide to exchange cutting-edge research findings but also served as a bridge for deeper collaboration between academia and industry.

At the opening ceremony, Ren Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of MJU, delivered a welcome speech. She stated that the rapid development of digital technology is profoundly transforming social structures and economic models. MJU will continue to strengthen exchanges and collaboration with the international academic community, continuously enhance the internationalization of education and research, and promote the university's connotative development and the cultivation of digital talents.

In his speech, Prof. Loizos Symeou, Vice Rector of EUC, pointed out that digital technology is reshaping the landscape of global cooperation. He expressed hope that this symposium would serve as an opportunity to further expand academic connections and project collaborations between Chinese and European universities.

During the keynote speech session, experts and scholars from various countries and regions shared their latest research findings and insights. Prof. Kostas Gouliamos, former Rector of EUC and Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, discussed the collaborative development vision of the "Digital Silk Road". Prof. Wang Junfeng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences presented breakthroughs in the application of strong magnetic fields in biomedicine. Prof. Shen Jianfu from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University explained the mechanisms for realizing big data value. Prof. Hooy Chee Wooi from Universiti Sains Malaysia analyzed models for social digital transformation. Prof. Yang Jijiang from Tsinghua University examined the challenges of digital transformation in healthcare. Prof. Li Qiwen from Hong Kong Shue Yan University analyzed factors influencing digital currency payments. Mr. Zeng Zhongcheng, Chairman of Tatwah Smartech Co., Ltd., shared practical experiences in digital technology-driven marine economic development, and Prof. Xu Ge from MJU introduced the latest research on human-computer interaction technology for mental health.

In the afternoon, the symposium featured four thematic sub-forums: "Artificial Intelligence and Smart Society Construction," "Digital Education and Talent Cultivation," "Digital Industry Innovation and Marketing”, and "Digital Technology and Rural Revitalization”. Scholars, researchers, and graduate students from various regions engaged in vibrant discussions and in-depth exchanges on these topics, further promoting the integration of digital technology with various industries.

Following a review process, the committee awarded eight "Best Paper Prizes" across the sub-forums ---- four each in the researcher and student categories ---- to recognize outstanding research innovation and foster academic excellence.

The symposium was jointly hosted by MJU and EUC, with co-organization from Fujian Women's Association for Science and Technology, E-commerce Branch of Fujian Collaborative Innovation Institute, Fujian-Malaysia Joint Laboratory of Digital Healthcare, Joint R&D Center for Smart Marine Fisheries and Intelligent Production with Next-Generation Information Technology (Cyprus), Internet Innovation Research Center of New-Type Think Tanks with University Characteristics in Fujian Province, and Fujian Province Digital Economy and Women’s Development Research Center. Support was provided by enterprises including Fujian Easund Bio-Tech Co., Ltd., Fuzhou Tatwah Smartech Co.,Ltd., Zhejiang Smart Training Technology Co., Ltd., and Fujian MiDoDo Network Technology Co, Ltd.

The successful hosting of this symposium not only demonstrated MJU's strength in digital technology research and international exchanges but also injected new vitality into the development of the digital economy in Fujian Province and across the nation. Participating experts unanimously agreed that future efforts should focus on deepening international cooperation, expanding digital innovation application scenarios, and collectively building an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable digital society.
