On the afternoon of June 20th, the 2025 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral Ceremony for the International Digital Economy College (IDEC) at Minjiang University (MJU) commenced solemnly with the national anthem. Attending the ceremony were Chen Xingming, Vice President of MJU; Fu Gaosheng, former Vice President of MJU; Kostas Gouliamos, former Rector and Senior Advisor for Strategic Development of European University Cyprus (EUC); Loizos Symeou, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs of EUC; You Xin, Party Construction Supervisor at the departmental level and former CPC Party Committee Secretary of IDEC; Zheng Jian, Director of the Office of International Affairs of MJU; Huang Xiaoming, CPC Party Committee Secretary of IDEC; Lin Zhongyan, Dean of IDEC; distinguished guests from partner enterprises; all faculty and staff of the college; as well as families of the graduates and the entire 2025 Class. Together, they gathered to witness this moment of honor.

Vice President Chen Xingming of MJU delivered a speech, extending warm congratulations to the graduates on behalf of the university on the successful completion of their studies. Reflecting on past achievements and looking forward to the journey ahead, he shared three expectations for the graduates: First, to become believers with a mindset aligned to the “national priorities”, consciously undertaking their mission and composing their youthful answers on the journey of building a strong nation and realizing national rejuvenation. Second, to become practitioners of mutual learning among civilizations, leveraging an integrative Chinese-Western mindset to contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind. Third, to become pioneers in innovation and creation, venturing boldly to carve out their own path with an enterprising spirit. Quoting the line, “The sky borders the sea at the far horizon; One becomes the peak upon ascending the summit,” he wished the graduates to achieve their own brilliance and write splendid chapters on their journey toward the vast horizon.

Professor Loizos Symeou, Vice Rector of EUC, delivered an address, speaking highly of the achievements of the Sino-foreign cooperative education program. He stated that over the past four years, they had collectively witnessed the students’ transformation within a multicultural environment. The graduates had not only mastered cutting-edge knowledge in their professional fields but also cultivated critical thinking and cross-cultural collaboration skills ---- core competencies essential in the era of globalization. He encouraged the graduates to become bridges connecting different civilizations and contribute Chinese wisdom to the world.

Lin Mengzhen, an Outstanding Graduate representative from the 2025 Class majoring in Graphic Design, shared memories of campus life in her speech. She expressed her commitment to uphold the university motto of “Pursuing Perfection, Striving for Excellence”, facing the future with confidence. Wherever she is, she will pledge to apply knowledge creatively, serve society, and become the kind of application-oriented talents needed by society.

During the ceremony, college leaders sequentially announced the lists of the graduates of 2025 Class, students to be conferred bachelor’s degrees, outstanding graduates, recipients of Postgraduate Entrance Exam Scholarship, awardees of the Outstanding Contribution in Education and Culture Award, recipients of the Best Partner Award, and alumni liaison representatives, and presented the corresponding certificates to each group successively.

As the melodious university anthem played, the solemn tassel-turning ceremony began. All graduates ascended the stage in turn, where leaders from both universities adjusted their caps, turned their tassels, and took commemorative photos. When the tassels were gently moved from right to left by the hands of their mentors, thunderous applause filled the venue. Many parents watched with tears in their eyes, capturing this precious moment.

Holding their degree certificates, graduates took group photos in front of the backdrop bearing the message: “Youth Never Ends, Dreams Set Sail.” According to statistics, as the first graduating class of IDEC, over 30 graduates from the 2025 Class will pursue further studies at world-renowned universities such as University College London and the University of Sydney. The remaining students will embark on careers in key industries and sectors, continuing to write their own remarkable stories.

Looking back, the light boat has passed endless mountains; looking forward, the road ahead is long yet bright with promise. This graduation ceremony is not only a milestone in the students' academic journey but also a vivid footnote to the college’s efforts in deepening international cooperation and cultivating talents with global competence. IDEC will uphold its philosophy of nurturing high-quality, application-oriented talents with an international perspective, continuously cultivating individuals equipped to meet societal needs.
