On April 30, the Inauguration Ceremony and Work Promotion Meeting of the Chongqing University - Novosibirsk State University Joint Basic Research Center (hereinafter referred to as “the Research Center”) was held at Huxi Campus of Chongqing University. YGL accompanied the delegation led by Igor Sagidakov, Vice Rector of foreign affairs of Novosibirsk State University, to Chongqing University. The meeting was presided over by Zhang Zhiqing, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Chongqing University. Yang Jun, Vice President of Chongqing University, attended the meeting and delivered a speech with the presence of relevant school leaders from both universities.

On behalf of Chongqing University, Yang Jun extended a warm welcome to the delegation of Novosibirsk State University. He elaborated on the development plan for jointly building the Research Center, and emphasized that the establishment of the Research Center was not only an important milestone in the cooperation between the two universities and a new starting point for China-Russia educational and technological exchanges, but also a crucial measure to respond to the “Belt and Road” Education Initiative and deepen China-Russia strategic cooperation in science and technology.

Vice Rector Igor Sagidakov expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception of Chongqing University. He introduced the operation mechanism and future development direction of the Research Center, noting that both universities have profound heritage in basic disciplines such as mathematics, mechanics and physics, and the cooperation is of far-reaching significance. He looked forward to both parties working together to jointly cultivate top-notch innovative talents, and achieve new breakthroughs in relevant disciplinary fields.

At the meeting, YGL witnessed the two universities’ leaders jointly unveiling the plaques for the three Research Centers specializing in mathematics, physics and mechanics. After the inauguration, experts at the meeting conducted in-depth discussions on topics including the operation and management of the Research Center, collaborative scientific research projects, and joint talent cultivation, and put forward constructive suggestions, laying a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between the two universities.
